Four from Seattle Elevated to College of Fellows in 2008

The American Institute of Architects has announced the election to the AIA College of Fellows of four architects nominated by AIA Seattle. Election to the College recognizes achievements of national significance in advancing the profession. Among 116 individuals advanced in 2008, the Jury of Fellows selected these four AIA Seattle nominees:

Denice Johnson Hunt AIA AIA Seattle President 1995-96 August 14, 1948 - December 25, 1997

Born in Kingston, Jamaica, Denice Johnson completed architecture studies at Tufts and MIT in 1976. She married John Hunt, also an architect, in 1978, and they made their home, with son Collin and daughter Julian, in Seattle.

Honors Archive: AIA Seattle President 2003-04 Kristen M. Scott AIA

Kristen M. Scott AIA (BA Psychology, MArch UW), a principal at Weber + Thompson since 1996, served as AIA Seattle President during a year of special success, as noted in the AIA Seattle Annual Report she presented at the Annual Meeting.

The AIA Seattle Medal

The AIA Seattle Medal, the highest award that AIA Seattle can confer on one of its own Members, recognizes distinguished lifetime achievement in architecture including design and professional practice and service to the profession, the community, education, and the arts, or any combination of these. AIA Seattle first gave the Medal in 1984 to Paul Hayden Kirk FAIA and Paul Thiry FAIA.

The Pacific Northwest architectural community lost an exceptional leader with the recent death of Steve Arai. His active professionalism, passionate community service and philosophy of inclusiveness will be deeply missed.
