AIA Seattle Congratulates What Makes It GREEN? Award Winners

Awarded Projects Illustrate the Best in Regional Sustainable Design

The Seattle Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA Seattle), congratulates the five recipients of the 2010 What Makes It GREEN? Awards. What Makes It GREEN? was established by AIA Seattle’s Committee on the Environment (COTE) over a decade ago to recognize and learn from the best in sustainable design and promote the importance of green building. The awarded projects were announced at the What Makes it GREEN? Awards event held Monday in Seattle on June 2, 2010 at Daniels Recital Hall in downtown Seattle.

The What Makes It GREEN? program featured a four-member jury Bob Berkebile FAIA, Founding Principal, BNIM Architects, Don Horn AIA, Assistant Director, GSA Office of Federal High-Performance Green Buildings, Claire Johnson, Associate Director, Atelier Ten, San Francisco, and ALEX STEFFEN, Executive Editor, Worldchanging. The jury was moderated by Nadav Malin, President, BuildingGreen, Executive Editor, GreenSource

The jury selected two Gold-level projects, one Silver, and two Honorable Mentions, one for Rural Housing and one for Cultural Sensitivity.

2010 What Makes It GREEN? Co-Chairs were Margaret Montgomery AIA, LEED®AP and Jared Silliker, MBA, LEED®AP. The 2010 AIA Seattle Committee on the Environment Co-Chairs are David Mount AIA and Carl Dominguez AIA.
