Design for Aging Book Club Meeting

The Design for Aging Committee is a gathering of caring individuals concerned about design innovation that will enhance the quality of life for our senior population.

This year’s Book Club selection is The Great Good Place: Cafes, Coffee Shops, Bookstores, Bars, Hair Salons, and Other Hangouts at the Heart of a Community by Ray Oldenburg, Ph.D.

Our “first place” is home. Our “second place” is work. The Great Good Place argues that "third places" - where people can gather, put aside the concerns of work and home, and hang out simply for the pleasures of good company and lively conversation - are the heart of a community's social vitality and the grassroots of democracy. Let’s talk about the book at a Great, Good, Third Place, shall we? Special guest: Constance Perenyi, Executive Director, Friends of Third Place Commons. Constance oversees what makes TPC a great, good place!
