AIA Seattle Presents AIA+2030 Professional Series

Educational Program Teaches Design Professionals How to Achieve the 2030 Challenge toward Carbon-Neutrality

WHO: AIA Seattle, the Seattle Chapter of American Institute of Architects

WHAT: The AIA+2030 Professional Series helps design professionals create buildings that meet the ambitious energy efficiency goals of the 2030 Challenge. Ten, 4-hour sessions offer strategies to reach 50% reduction in fossil fuel greenhouse gas emissions, giving design professionals the knowledge and leverage to create next-generation, super-efficient buildings—and provide firms with the skills that will set them apart in the marketplace.

March 5 Getting to 50: The Power of Targets + Load Reduction

April 2 Accentuate the Positive: Climate Responsive Design

April 30 Skins: The Importance of the Thermal Envelope

June 4 Passively Aggressive: Employing Passive Systems for Load Reduction

June 25 Illuminating Savings: Daylighting and Integrated Lighting Strategies

July 23 Right-sized: Equipment and Controls for Super-Efficient Building Systems

September 10 Site Power: Renewable Energy Opportunities

October 8 The Hand-Off + Staying in Shape: Operations, Maintenance + Education

October 29 Putting it All Together: Achieving 2030 Goals on the Project and at the Office

 
WHEN: February 2010 - October 2010

All Sessions held 8:30am - 12:30pm

Location: All classes held at Seattle City Hall, (except for the February 5 class, which is held at the Seattle Central Library.)

Cost: 10-session package:

$800 AIA members

$400 AIA associates

$1,200 Non-members

COLLABORATOR SPECIAL: AIA members and Associates who invite their engineer to join them can sign up that engineer at the AIA member price. One referral allowed per AIA member.
