CATEGORIES OF MEMBERSHIP

Architects

Individuals currently licensed to practice architecture in a US State or Territory (proof of licensure required for submittal with application).  AIA professionals memberships are part of a three-tiered membership system, with dues allocated and services provided at the local, state, and national levels.

Associates

Individuals not licensed to practice architecture, but meeting one (or more) of the following conditions:
* Hold a professional degree in architecture
* Participate in career responsibilities recognized by licensing authorities as constituting credit toward licensure (interns)
* Work under the supervision of an architect in a professional or technical capacity
* Serve as faculty member in a university program in architecture
Individuals who graduate from an accredited school of architecture in 20067 or 2008, and who meet the above requirements for Associate Membership, are eligible for a discounted membership rate through December 2008.  A copy of your degree is required with membership application. 

International Associates

Individuals licensed to practice architecture in another country, but not in the US

Allied Professionals

Professionals in design and construction including contractors, designers, artists, engineers, and other members of the design and building professional community, as well as members of the public interested in the field of architecture.

Students

Students currently enrolled in accredited schools of architecture.

Architecture Firms

Architecture firm with legal status as an architecture practice that employs one or more registered architects.  At least one owner or managing partner must be a current member of AIA Seattle.  Firms located outside AIA Seattle's 6-county membership area may also join if one owner or managing partner is a current member of AIA Seattle.
