The American Institute of Architects has announced the election to the AIA College of Fellows of two architects nominated by AIA Seattle. Among 76 individuals advanced in 2007, the Jury of Fellows selected Bert Gregory FAIA and Anne Schopf FAIA, in recognition of the national significance of their efforts to advance the profession in its service to society.

In the original presentation of the qualifications of these individuals to the AIA Seattle Board of Directors the Fellows Nominating committee chaired by Karen Braitmayer FAIA offered these summaries of the candidates' contributions to professional service:

Bert Gregory FAIA
Bert Gregory's career demonstrates outstanding initiatve in design and design leadership. As a major force behind the growth of Mithun's range and power in achieveing environmentally responsible design at the project and community scale, he has led the drive to regenerate and refocus a practice intensely identified with the sustainable design movement in Seattle and the Northwest. A sought-after speaker and sustainability advocate, Bert has shared his knowledge and commitment with design and building professionals throughout the Northwest, the U.S. and internationally. Anne Schopf FAIA
As design principal with Seattle-based Mahlum, Anne Schopf has crafted the firm's design ethic and widely-recognized leadership in environmentally sensitive design. The firm's projects, under Anne's direction, consistently merit recognition in AIA's annual Top Ten Green program among other national and local programs. As AIA Seattle Honor Awards Chair in 2003, as a member of the AIA Seattle Board of Directors and as an active member of the AIA Design Committee, she brings notable public attention to design excellence.
