Celebration at Bellevue City Hall

On a bright Thursday afternoon "five score and a dozen years" after the 1894 signing by Daniel Burham (pictured at right) then AIA President, of the charter "to certify that a Chapter of Architects has been formed in the City of Seattle . hereby constituted a Chapter of The American Institute of Architects," AIA Seattle 2005-06 President Randy L. Everett AIA, 2006-07 President Walter Schacht AIA, AIA150 Champion Peter David Greaves AIA, and the AIA Seattle Board of Directors welcomed AIA Seattle Members (with a special greeting to new Members) at the newly-opened Bellevue City Hall.

Bellevue Mayor Grant Degginger joined in welcoming attendees, along with sponsors Baylis Architects, MulvannyG2 Architecture, SRG Partnership, and Stantec.

Filling in for AIA Seattle AIA150 Champion Peter David Greaves AIA in his delayed arrival, Co-Champion Marga Rose Hancock Hon. AIA previewed key features of the AIA150 Seattle, local observance of the AIA sesquicentennial celebration (AIA150), slated for 2007 and beyond.

Following Happy Birthday toasts and serving of the 112th Birthday Cake, Carla Weinheimer AIA of the City's Department of Planning and Community Development joined with other members of the design team from SRG Partnership and Stantec in leading tours of the facility.
