Peter Sackett, AIA Seattle program director, and Marga Rose Hancock, AIA Seattle executive vice president, recently moved back into the remodeled AIA Seattle offices at 1911 First Ave. The AIA staff of seven will work there.

The space was designed by the Young Architects Forum - representing young architects from local firms. They interviewed AIA staff and conducted design charrettes.

Architect and AIA Seattle President-elect Peter David Greaves of Olympic Associates Co. supervised design and was the architect of record.

"The teams worked hard and well, and produced some elegant solutions that respond to the challenges of accommodating AIA Seattle's burgeoning programs and operations," said Greaves. "We appreciate the energy and artistry of all participants."

AIA moved from Pioneer Square to the First Avenue site in the early 1980s. Mithun reconfigured the space in 1991.

Work on the new office began in August and was completed earlier this month. The 1,900-square-foot space includes a tapered gallery chute, improved lighting and ventilation systems, mobile work stations and resource center.

Turner Construction was the general contractor.
