2007 Honor Award: Commendation
Several of you have contacted the AIA Seattle office with questions about submittals to the AIA Seattle 2004 HONOR AWARDS FOR WASHINGTON ARCHITECTURE.
We plan to communicate with all who have indicated their intent to submit by the October 7 deadline. At that time, each entrant will receive a project submittal code (see below) that will provide access and complete instructions for preparing and uploading the submittal. Meanwhile, we hope this brief summary will aid your anticipation of preparing the submittal.
As mentioned on the 2004 Honor Awards entry page, each project you enter will require the online submittal of several items.
* Those who have registered your intent to submit (with payment) will receive a project submittal code (a different code for each project you register) from AIA Seattle via email (e.g. B047, C702, etc). Save this code. You will use it to view online forms providing detailed instructions on exactly how to prepare your project(s) for submittal and upload, including the required size and resolution of your digital images.
A completed submittal in either the Built or the Unbuilt category constitutes these elements:
(1) two project information forms, submitted online as described in the procedures;
(2) digital JPG images, formatted and uploaded as described in the online entry procedures;
(3) a Project Tile, delivered to AIA Seattle (please note our temporary location at 2300 Seventh Avenue).
Submittal format
Digital elements, submitted online:
* Entrants will submit materials for jury review and public communication online, in digital format:
* files containing either 8 or 12 images, including plans and illustrations of the program and also text [project description] in .jpg format. These images include a set reviewed by the jury (without credits), and a set for on-site posting and post-event publication (with credits).
** online forms: elements include project credit information (not viewed during jury review) and project location (should the jury choose to visit the project)
Project Tile, delivered to AIA Seattle:
* For display at the Honor Awards event November 8, entrants may submit a board-mounted image (8" x 8" x 1/2", maximum weight 1/2 lbs.) representing the project (may include project name and credits), delivered by post (1911 First Avenue, Seattle WA 98101) or in person to AIA Seattle (2300 Seventh Avenue @ Bell, Seattle) no later than 4pm October 22. Details of entry format included with information provided to submitters.
* AIA Seattle will assess a late fee of $35 for each addition or change to a submittal after the dates indicated. No materials accepted after 4pm Monday November 1.
* About Project Categories: The submittal process requires entrants to select a category (Adaptive Reuse, Commercial, Industrial/Institutional, Interior, Residential, Urban Planning, Other) for each entry. The Honor Awards Committee and staff uses this categorization for purposes of organizing the materials only. Instructions to the jury include no "quota" or other reference to these categories.
