Leadership Reception &
'A National Conversation' in Seattle
Meet candidates for the AIA Seattle Board of Directors, in preparation for voting online or at the Annual Meeting slated for May 22, 4-6pm at Seattle West Police Precinct/911 Communications Center. Candidates will introduce themselves, and also join AIA NW & Pacific Region Director and candidate for national AIA Vice President Bruce E. Blackmer AIA and the AIA Seattle Board of Directors to take part in 'A National Conversation' on professional concerns and the AIA role in addressing these; and a briefing on issues and candidates to come before the delegates assembled at the AIA Annual Business Meeting.
AIA national President Gordon H. Chong FAIA and 1st VP Thompson Penney FAIA have established 'A National Conversation' as "an initiative designed to engage each AIA member's best thinking on issues critical to the architect's professional future." Come prepared to discuss what you consider to be some of the important trends and issues facing our profession - what we should do to make a positive impact, what resources are needed to help us succeed, and what will help us plan strategically. "We would like you to cleanse your palate of day-to-day concerns and focus on the future," says A National Conversation co-creator and AIA president-elect Thom Penney FAIA. "Getting together with friends and colleagues is an opportunity to share ideas and become re-energized."
AIA President Chong adds, "You don't have to be a futurist to know change is in the air. But do we know what all those changes are and how we should respond? How do we acknowledge and get out in front of the forces driving our society and profession?"
