Throughout the last three decades, Jim Olson FAIA has created memorable homes for families, businesses, and institutions throughout the Northwest and the world, while influencing a generation of design professionals. In residential projects for major art collectors across the US, Jim's work has explored most profoundly the relationship of art and architecture.

An AIA Seattle Honor Award in 1979 recognized the Pike and Virginia Building by Olson/Walker, and since that time projects directed by Jim Olson have captured national and international honors and acclaim through a rich list of designs and publications.

His Seattle buildings exemplify his commitment to weaving the architectural experience into the city fabric, perhaps most notably demonstrated in the mixed-use Pike and Virginia project (1979), the first new building in the Pike Place Market for 50 years.

He expresses his commitment to the cultural life of Seattle through service on the boards of numerous arts and cultural organizations including the Seattle Art Museum, and he lectures widely throughout the hemisphere on the relationship of art and architecture.
