ForeKNOWLEDGE BY DESIGN Case Studies Forum: Becoming Knowledgeable September 22, 2004 4-6:30pm at NBBJ (111 S. Jackson, Seattle)

A forerunner to Knowledge by Design/NW + Pacific Case Study Conference
August 4-6, 2005, Seattle & the World
AIA Seattle gratefully acknowledges the support provided to this program by a grant from the AIA Knowledge Initiative.

Join knowledge leaders Laura Lee FAIA (Professor and Head of School of Architecture, Carnegie Mellon University, past Chair of the AIA national Educator/Practitioners Network [EPN] Advisory Group and member of the Case Studies Work Group) and Richard Green FAIA (Consulting Principal, The Stubbins Associates, Cambridge) for an introduction to key concepts and techniques to advance Scholarship in Practice through the preparation and sharing of Case Studies.

Increasingly, architects' clients have come to rely not only on design creativity but also on architects' special knowledge of the variety of economic, management, environmental, cultural and other factors affecting project design and service delivery. In response to this growing demand, the AIA Case Studies Initiative, a program of the AIA Large Firm Roundtable and the Educator/Practitioners Net, offers new information and opportunities related to documentation, sharing, and promotion of design knowledge.

. design team formation and process management
. effective client relationships
. materials research and application
• painful lessons
