Dennis Haskell FAIA (BArch University of Virginia 1967; March, MCP University of Pennsylvania 1970) has practiced architecture and urban design in the Puget Sound region since the mid-1970s, when he began working in Seattle with Joyce Copeland Vaughn and Nordfors. His portfolio, developed in work with several of the area's significant urban design practices, includes master planning for Seattle Center, Seattle's Central Waterfront, Seattle Civic Center, Downtown Transit Tunnel, and South Lake Union Park. He has undertaken high-density TOD projects for King County Metro as well as design and planning for multiple passenger and vehicle terminals for Washington State Ferries. His projects have won numerous awards for achievement in the areas of architecture, landscape architecture, and planning. An extensive record of public service includes an effective term as Chair of the Seattle Design Commission.

In offering his 1996 nomination to the AIA College of Fellows, sponsor Jerry Ernst FAIA noted that "In making architecture and urban design accessible and understandable to the public, Dennis Haskell has enabled both public decision makers and other architects to act with confidence based on clear direction and broad public consensus."
