2007 Honor Award

This past year I have had the pleasure of serving AIA Seattle, and President Kristen Scott, as your 1st VP/President-Elect. Now I am honored to continue my service as the President of AIA Seattle in its 111th year.
As many of you know, ours is the nation's fifth largest AIA component. From this position we share our enthusiasm and approach with over 70,000 AIA Member Architects. AIA Seattle is a recognized leader in our national organization. As a component we have originated high-visibility public programming, championed the cause of diversity in our profession; we have advanced concepts of inclusiveness in our organization, and we have invited leaders in allied professions to join in our dialogue.
This coming year we have more innovative programs planned for our members. We are working with the Young Architects Forum on an exciting renovation plan for our First Avenue facility. Plans will be shared at the Annual Meeting May 21. This September we will welcome nationally-recognized knowledge leaders Laura Lee FAIA and Marvin Malecha FAIA to join us for a Case Studies Forum. Then, in August of 2005 we will host our colleagues from around the Northwest and Pacific region for "Knowledge by Design - NW+P Case Study Conference" - and the observation of the 111th anniversary of the establishment of AIA in Seattle and Washington.
These events are just a brief preview of exciting things to come. As President I invite all of our Members to participate in AIA Seattle events. I invite non-member architects to join us in AIA Seattle. I look forward to meeting and working with you all this year. You have heard it before: "You need to show up."
