As an AIA Member most of my professional life, I value what the organization offers in terms of available resources and its collective voice for architects of the region. My focus and energies within the AIA have been to promote a sustainable approach to our projects, to emphasize design excellence, and to maintain and improve opportunities for architects to exhibit and discuss their work with peers. It is AIA Seattle that provides the forum for us to share our passion about design, understand how it transcends the process of how we work, and celebrate it through events such as the Honor Awards and "Home of the Month" programs.

As a Director, my goal will be to help establish a dialogue between our clients, and the incredible talent of the AIA Seattle membership. We need to challenge how we as architects can "raise the bar" in these times when clients may tightly manage the development process, to the point where design is initially acknowledged as important, but ultimately may not embraced as something essential to a project's success.
