Lost in Translation Series:
A new series of moderated panel discussions exploring how architecture responds to ongoing change in the world. The series is intended to generate thought-provoking, relevant, lively dialogue among architects and within the broader design community.

While idyllic single-family retreats perennially garner a preponderance of local design awards, the focus on the bottom line, and other constraints, is often used as an excuse for mediocre design in other building typologies. How do architects transcend limitation to create meaningful buildings? Why do some developers seem to value good design more than others?
