With insight and techniques originated for Callison's international portfolio, Rick Meyer (BArch UC Berkeley, MArch UW) participated actively in most of the Institute's risk management and practice initiatives during the decade of the 1990's, working closely with peers and insurance industry leaders to affect much-needed change.

In Seattle and the Northwest, Rick has had a significant influence on current and future practice through his generous contributions to learning at all levels. He directed the resources of the prosperous and highly regarded Callison Architecture to the teaching environment at the University of Washington College of Architecture and Urban Planning. There, he helped initiated the model Student Practicum Program in Architecture that has become one of the leading practice-oriented programs of its type in the nation. Rick served as AIA Seattle President in 1996-97.

The AIA College of Fellows inducted Rick Meyer in 2000, in recognition of the significance of his achievements to advance the profession in the area of design practice. David Lindsey FAIA sponsored his nomination.
