WASHINGTON LEGISLATIVE ALERT: Liability Reform: ESSB 5728

AIA Washington Council issues A CALL TO ACTION
January 29, 2004

To all AIA Members in Washington
RE: Engrossed Substitute Senate Bill 5728: Liability Reform

The Senate Republican leadership met last week and outlined their strategy for liability reform this session. ESSB 5728, as it passed in 2003, will be the bill passed out of the Senate and over to the House. It leaves out some key components of comprehensive reform (construction reforms contained in SB 6520, obesity, Rx provisions, sliding scale on attorney fees, etc.).

For now, a message needs to go to your Senator: "We need comprehensive liability reform, and we support ESSB 5728." [Please see references below for background and detailed talking points on this issue.]

Call the Washington State Legislative Hotline at 1-800-562-6000 to leave a message for your Senator or any Senator that you know personally, or send an e-mail message using the references below. Please copy Senate Majority Leader Bill Finkbeiner on your communication.
