Prior to that, Tom practiced law with a major San Francisco law firm for eight years. His practice was limited to the defense of professionals - mostly design professionals. John Cary is executive director of Public Architecture, a nonprofit organization that encourages architects to assume leadership roles as problem identifiers, rather than just problem solvers. In that capacity, John oversees a variety of pro bono projects, consulting services, as well as a national program called "1% Solution." The latter is a program sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), through which firms pledge one percent of their billable hours to nonprofit groups and communities-in-need that could not otherwise afford professional design services. In 1999, John and Casius Pealer co-founded ArchVoices, a nonprofit organization and think tank on architectural education, internship, and licensure.

Over nearly three decades as a practice leader, Jim's projects have touched upon environmental issues significant to the Northwest and the nation. Brian Dickson, a Senior Associate at Magnusson Klemencic Associates (MKA), has 13 years' experience with structural engineering projects, ranging from convention centers and stadiums to high-rise hotels and high-tech federal buildings.
